Nutritional Sciences is a natural science-based discipline that critically addresses all aspects of a balanced and adequate human diet in theory and practice. Integrating other disciplines in the fields of health, social affairs, ecology, technology, production, and economics, it serves the individual and societal well-being of people.
The degree programme in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Vienna provides a multidisciplinary academic education in the field of natural sciences, covering the intersection of Food – Nutrition – Health.

The Directors of the Degree Programme handle administrative and legal tasks regarding degree programmes and serve as the main point of contact for students. A consultative body—the Study Advisory Board (Studienkonferenz)—is established to continuously monitor and optimize the organization of the degree programmes managed by the Directorate. Half of the members of the Study Advisory Board represent the students, and the other half represent the teaching staff. The Directorate’s responsibilities include, among others:
• Providing information and advisory services (in cooperation with the Austrian Students' Union / ÖH and the advisory service units of the University of Vienna)
• Issuing degree certificates and Diploma Supplements
• Formal recognition of examinations via official notifications, advance notices, formation of examination boards, etc.
• Preparing expert opinions in the context of admission to degree programmes
• Demand-oriented planning and organization of courses and examinations for one or more degree programmes (Curriculum)
• Implementing quality assurance measures in teaching and study administration

Studies Service Center Life Sciences (SSC)
The SSC is responsible for the following areas:
- Registration for repeat examinations before a board of examiners
- Record of examinations (Prüfungspässe)
- Graduation / Degree completion
- Recognition of qualifications / Credit transfer
- Registration of topics for thesis projects
- Certificates and official legal decisions (Bescheide)
