The 5th scientific meeting of “COST Action CA20121 - BenBedPhar” took place at the University of Graz on the 12th and 13th of October 2023. The topic of the conference was “Translating NRF2 research into clinical practice” and was organized by Christine Morgenstern and Brigitte Winklhofer-Roob from University of Graz as well as Christina Unteregger and Harald Sourij from the Medical University of Graz.
Three members of our working group (Lina Maqboul, Agnes Draxler and Laura Bragagna) have recently joined the COST Action group and had the pleasure of attending the conference.
The program included several scientific talks, poster sessions and discussion rounds from well renowned international speakers such as Prof. Masayuki Yamamoto.
The event organizers planned for the participants a cultural evening program which included a city tour and ended with a guided tour of the city hall.
“It was an honor for us to meet the outstanding Prof. Masayuki Yamamoto after his keynote lecture at the NRF2 COST Action Scientific Meeting. He identified and established the KEAP1-NRF2 system, which controls the cellular response to oxidative stresses. We had the great opportunity to listen and engage with leading experts in the field of NRF2 research and enjoyed a wonderful time in Graz. This meeting was a great event and also perfectly co-organized by Christina Morgenstern and our cooperation partner Brigitte Winkelhofer-Roob.” Agnes Draxler
