Priv.-Doz. Oliver Neubauer who is currently the Principal Investigator of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF)-funded clinical study ‘Dietary nitrate, vascular function, and inflammation’ has obtained grant funding for another clinical research project by the FWF.

The new project ‘Nitrate, exercise and vascular function in midlife women’ is aimed to investigate whether the regular intake of nitrate from beetroot juice enhances the positive effects of exercise training on vascular function, blood pressure and physical performance in women after menopause. Postmenopausal women are an important population group with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), and the overall objective of this research is to examine the efficacy of this combined lifestyle-based approach to improve cardiovascular health and prevent CVD in this group. The project will start in January 2025. More information can be found at the FWF website (https://www.fwf.ac.at/en/research-radar/10.55776/KLP1075624). The clinical study is publicly listed under ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT06527248).
